Fall Coffee Card

Its the last day of the Fall Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop and I am scrambling to get my card posted before the deadline. The coffee cup is cut using a Spellbinders Die. The little apple on the front makes me think of hot spiced apple cider, yum. 

This card uses cute fall-theamed colors from a Crate Paper 6 x 6 pad called "Farmhouse."

I used the colors from the current Your Next Stamp Challenge. The sketch is the classic sketch 154 from Operation Write Home 

Love Hearing From You

A clean and simple card design today. The paper has a vintage look that pairs well with the old-fashioned telephone on the card. The stamping didn't come out perfect, but I kept it because it goes along with the vintage look. 

This card design is based on one of the earliest Operation Write Home sketches. -- sketch 17. Their earlier sketches didn't have a lot of components so they are are a good place to look if you want a clean look.

Friendly Birds

I made this card using one of my favorite sentiment stamps. Whenever I have paper with birds on it this stamp comes out. The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge for March is "Birds of a Feather." That's great because birds are one of my favorite themes. 

I was not completely happy with the card I made earlier with a Viva la Verve sketch. So, I'm giving the first - February sketch from Viva la Verve another try.

I layed the card out before gluing it down. This card needed something extra so I sanded the edges of the white core cardstock used for the mat layer and for the scalloped layer under the sentiment.  Then I used foam tape to pop up the scalloped sentiment frame so that there would be room for the embroidery floss behind it.

Blossom Card

I'm really excited about this card. It came together really easily and I'm so pleased with the result.

For the layout I used Mojo Monday sketch 383. This sketch is great for using with a 6" x 6" pad. If you cut the base layer of patterned paper to 5" x 3.75" you will have a piece of paper left that measures 5" x 2.25" which is perfect for the top piece of patterned paper. If the paper is double sided, just flip the smaller piece of paper over for a coordinating layer. Or, use a different paper from the same pad to cut a base layer for a second card. Then, use the smaller leftover paper from the first card as the coordinating paper for the second.

I'm also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week, the challenge is "All Things Bright and Beautiful."

ODBD January Challenge

Every month Our Daily Bread Designs sponsors a challenge on Operation Write Home. For every 25 cards posted they promise to fund the shipping on one box of cards.

This month they asked for people to post AnyHero cards -- supportive cards to send to overseas military or local community servants like firefighters or police officers.

I used paper from the Crate Paper Storyteller collection and copied a card I found on Pinterest. The stamps are both from Hero Arts.

Party Day!

I've been making birthday cards from Crate Paper Party Day paper. My goal has been to use every one of the 200 + Operation Write Home sketches. I'm about halfway done. There is no time limit on this goal. If it takes a year or more that it okay with me!

To make a card for OWH sketch #5 I used a printed card base, I think it was from My Mind's Eye. The sentiment is from There She Goes.

Sketch #236 is really easy to work with. I think it has a place in the OWH sketch all stars The cake stamp is from Lawn Fawn, as is the sentiment.

Farmer's Market Cards

This batch of cards was made using Farmers Market paper from Crate Paper. I'm still working my way through all 234 sketches from Operation Write Home . I think it will probably take another year, but that's ok. There is no deadline, its just a fun way to challenge myself.

Sketch #47 is a nice way to use 3" x 3" squares cut from a 6" x 6" paper pad. I inked the edges with chalk ink to add a bit of dimension. The sentiment is from Club Scrap. It says "We never know how strong we are until being strong is the only option." I love it!

Sketch #153 is really fun to work with. The sentiment is from Riley and Co. I really like how this card turned out.

Sketch #204 has a lot going on. I think that with this one its important to keep the colors and shapes consistent or it can get too busy.
