Coral Leaves

This card is based on Mojo Monday sketch 353. It uses leaves cut using a Spellbinders die. I used a paper that has a lighter color in the core than the outside. Then I sanded it to bring out the texture of the die. 

An edge die from Whimsy Stamps was used to cut the border edge on the right.

Scrappy Love Card

This card is an example of a way to use up smaller bits of paper that are left after completing larger projects. When you are left with a pile of scraps, see if you can cut some 1 1/2 inch squares. For every four squares you cut, you can make on

The layout is based on sketch 154 from Operation Write Home. 

I dry embossed the peach background layer and the blue paper for the heart using a swiss dot embossing folder. Then I used a Spellbinders die to cut out the heart. I used an edge die from Whimsy Stamps to create the scalloped edge for the blue strip at the bottom.

Distressed Leaves Card

I have some paper from the "Chocolate Lovers" collection in my stash. I love these papers. They are coated in shades of brown but have other colors at their core. They are fun to emboss and sand. For this project I used the color called "Amaretto." 

I used a leaf die from Spellbinders to cut out and emboss the leaves and then sanded to reveal some of the color below. 

The patterned papers are from Amy Tangerine. I'm trying to use the whole pad of patterned paper but its slow going. This card is being entered over at the Dies R Us challenge where the current challenge is Anything Goes. 

Little Bird Card

The challenge this week over at the Mod Squad is to include something with wings. That was great because it made me remember a bunch of little punched out birds I had ordered on Ebay a while back. I found one that coordinated with the Amy Tangerine paper I'm struggling to use up and a card was born!

The bird looked odd without an eye, so I added a little Rain Dot from Cloud9 for the eye. 

This card uses sketch 353 from Mojo Monday. Its a great way to use up scraps without making a card that looks like you were trying to use up scraps. 

Layered Birthday Card

I'm using Kristie's tutorial for using up 6" x 6" paper pads. Her website is great because she includes the measurements she used for reference. This card uses Kristie's measurements for Mojo Monday sketch 353.

The paper I'm trying to use up is Amy Tangerine "Ready, Set, Go"

The gift was cut out using a Sizzix die. The little fringe on the right was made using a die from Whimsy Stamps.

I'm entering this card in the current Dies R Us Challenge, which is "Lots of Layers."

Dots and Stripes Birthday

I'm trying to follow Kristie's advice for using up 6" x 6" paper pads. Every time I get close to finishing, I seem to get bored and move on to other paper So, this time I'm trying Really Hard to use up paper called Ready Set Go from Amy Tangerine. 

This card uses Mojo Monday sketch 456. Mojo Monday is closed, but their sketches are still great and fun to use. I used Spellbinders dies for the circles and a Sizzix die for the gift. 

I'm entering this card in the Dies R Us challenge. The current challenge is to use lots of layers 

Distressed Balloons

I used a cute set of dies from Whimsy Stamps to create the balloons on this card. Because the papers had lighter colored cores I sanded a little on the edge of each one to create dimension. 

This card uses the layout from Sketch #67 from Your Next Stamp and paper from Amy Tangerine. 

Feather Quill Card

This card features a stamp from Riley and Co. and paper from Amy Tangerine. The layout came from sketch #67 from Your Next Stamp. 

The feather die came from Whimsy Stamps. 

More importantly, the design was a team effort. My son was watching and giving input, pushing me to use a combination of colors that I wouldn't normally choose. 

Home with Banners

If you look closely at the little houses on this paper, you will see they have tiny heart shaped windows. So cute, and perfect for the sentiment (from My Favorite Things). 


Operation Write Home has been closed for a couple years, but I still have a binder filled with all the OWH sketches and use them all the time.

Time to Blossom

Do you even get hooked on a sentiment and you just can't stop using it? That's what has been happening with me lately with two stamps. One is from Close to My Heart and says "A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and will sing it back to you when you forget the words." The other one is stamp I used below. 

Mojo Monday Sketch #387

In case you can't read it clearly it says "And the day come when the risk it took to stay tight inside the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." I have always loved this powerful, inspirational message. Searching for a stamp with this quote on it was how I first found out about Verve Stamps. It got pushed to the back of the stamp rotation for a while, but it has been seeing a lot of ink lately. 

This card is based on the latest sketch from Mojo Monday.

This card if perfect for the current Work it Wednesday at Simon Says Stamp. They are looking for a spring theme. Well, not only does this card have flowers on it, the sentiment really evokes a springtime image of buds opening.  

The Wednesday Challenge at Simon Says Stamp is "Special Lady/Girly," so I'm entering 

this card in that challenge as well.
